Saturday night, Mr. Hillman’s Helpings and I went to Zengo, a trendy restaurant in D.C.’s Chinatown area (now known as Penn Quarter).

We’d been there a few times so we knew what we liked. The restaurant is unique in that the cuisine is a fusion of Japanese and Latin American (a little odd, i admit). The have things like sushi rolls with jalapenos in them, and ahi tuna won ton tacos. it definitely sounds weird but its really one of our favorite places in DC.

Start with a cocktail – the cuumber mojitos are the best!
For Sushi – the Angry Zengo roll is awesome
For Appetizer – get the chicken empanadas – the sauce is great!
For entrees – the shrimp wa a bit too spicy for my taste, but we’ve had the black cod and the short ribs, both of which were really tasty.

Overall the service was amazing, although I would have liked if they hadn’t taken away the plate so fast!

It’s definitely not cheap, but its a fun night out! see for yourself – http://www.modernmexican.com/zengodc/index.htm
